How to make the *PERFECT* chocolate chip cookie (no matter how you like ’em)
While we’re always in search of the perfect chocolate chip cookie, most of the time we settle for whatever kind we can find fastest. Let’s be real here, all chocolate chip cookies are great. But the holidays are coming, and that means you may want to impress your office or significant other’s parents with your baking skills. Now is probably not the time to cheat and use store bought cookies, so you’ve got to find a recipe! A quick internet search will tell you there are exactly one trillion chocolate chip cookie recipes. So which one is the RIGHT one?
To help you out, we made a nifty little video to show you how different cookie dough ingredients will change the outcome of what you’re baking. Each tiny adjustment will give you a different result, but they’ll always be delicious. So maybe don’t worry about which chocolate chip cookie is the right one for your festivities and just bake them all!

“Regular” Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp hot water
1/4 tsp salt
1 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix together butter through brown sugar until smooth.
Beat in egg.
Stir in vanilla.
Add baking soda and salt.
Stir in flower and chocolate chips.
Round in large spoonful-sized balls, and add to ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.

Shortening
Baking powder
Directions:
Cookie 1
Replace butter with shortening
Cooke 2
Replace brown sugar with more white sugar (1 cup white sugar, no brown)
Cookie 3
Replace white sugar with more brown sugar (1 cup brown sugar, no white)
Cookie 4
Replace baking soda with baking powder
Cookie 5
Add 2 ½ cups of flour instead of 1 ½
