How to Cleanse Your Skin Like A Beauty Snob

When I’m not wondering how many lipsticks it would take to circle the earth and back, I indulge my obsession for everything beauty by donning the beauty editor cape loud and proud. Some call my beauty fixation a little snotty and snobby, I however, like to call it saving the world one BB Cream at a time.

This week’s beauty how-to challenge? Telling you to screw the haters and letting you know that it’s okay to be a little proud when it comes to skincare. No, I’m not encouraging you to berate anyone who never takes off their makeup before bed, (one of my pet peeves) but I’m saying it’s okay to love babying your skin.

Whether it’s raccoon-eye slaying makeup wipes or zit removing products you seek, here’s 12 ways to get your beauty snob on.

1. KORRES Pomegranate Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes For Oily And Combination Skin ($12, sephora.com)

These refreshing, heavy-duty wipes slay raccoon eyes, thick foundation and lipstick fast with it’s synthetic and paraben-free formula.

The downside? There’s 25 wipes in one package so if you’re anything like me, you can go through the pack pretty quickly. Maybe we can get a 50 pack someday, KORRES? Pretty please?

2. MyChelle Honeydew Cleanser ($9.69, mychelle.com)

I love natural beauty products. Maybe I’m a bit biased, (I’m a proud Kombucha sippin’, holistic hippie) but I find that natural goodies always work best. Need proof? This unscented, vegetarian-friendly cleanser combines melon fruits with organic honey and skin-loving chlorophyll. Could your skin really ask for anything better?

3. Hydropeptide Anti-Wrinkle Brightening Toner ($38, hydropeptide.com)

If you ever have the misfortune of losing power for two solid weeks during a hurricane (hey there, Sandy!) this is one beauty product you must fight heaven and earth to have. Now, toners are usually used to keep breakouts at bay, but did you know this makes one seriously amazing face wash too?

4. Look Beauty Masque Bar Firming & Lifting Hydro Gel Mask ($9.99, target.com)

Where would I ever be without my beloved Target. The place has got some serious beauty digs dirt cheap. Get a load of this gel-cool mask which instantly nourishes dry and parched skin upon use.

5. NUXE Gentle Exfoliating Gel with Rose Petals ($26, us.nuxe.com)

Don’t get it twisted. Everything you’ve heard about exfoliation is 100 percent true. Unclogging pores and shedding away dead skin cells, use this gel two to three times a week for healthy, baby soft skin.

6. Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer ($19.95, airrepairskincare.com)

Yes, I know my skincare routine seems a little bit like “American Psycho” serial killer Patrick Bateman’s, but it’s important to finish with a good moisturizer. Locking in moisture and adding skin benefits galore, look to this moisturizer by Air Repair to get the job done right.

7. Darphin SKIN MAT Serum ($78, darphin.com)

WAIT! Before you abandon ship, let me convince you. This serum might not get along with your wallet at first, but it’s oil-zapping and pore minimizing formula would even make Regina George proud.

8. Pure + Simple Holistic Vanitea-Anti-Inflammatory Tea ($11.01, pureandsimple.ca)

Ladies, it’s so important to drink in your skin benefits too, so gulp up this zenful tea which works to remove excess heat (too much heat triggers acne) in the body, keeping your skin happily acne-free. Yes, the taste may take awhile to get used to, but trust me, it’s good for your skin.

9. Clarisonic Aria Sonic Skin Cleansing System ($199, sephora.com)

Anything Clarisonic makes is pretty much close to godliness. My Mia 2 still leaves me breathless if you must know. This brand new super-sonic brush outdoes itself with it’s three speed technology.

10. Tanda clear + ($195, tanda.com)

No, this is not some weird futuristic torture device, although it kinda looks like something that crawled out of a “Star Wars” film. This is about to change how you view acne care forever. Using blue light technology and sonic vibrations, this amazing, acne-fighting contraption helps clear existing breakouts while working to prevent future ones on the horizon.

11. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion ($17, mariobadescu.com)

I confess that I’m so in love with this lotion that I dream about it. That’s how great it is. It may look weird, as most highly effective beauty products usually do, but using this miracle product is pretty straightforward. Before bed, dab a little bit of the solution (DON’T shake the bottle) onto a cotton swab and dab onto existing breakouts. Wake up the next morning and voila! Look how small that ugly, zit has just become.

12. Mario Badescu Ceramide Eye Gel ($18, mariobadescu.com)

Skin underneath our eyes happens to be extremely delicate, so it’s mega important to give it the TLC that it deserves. Okay, I admit that I’m a Mario Badescu junkie, but I’m not ashamed of it. Especially since this eye gel has extremely hydrated the skin underneath my eyes. Even better? Chill this lotion for an instant relief for tired and puffy eyes. Also works wonders after a good cry too.
