Your step-by-step guide to changing your Facebook profile pic for International Women’s Day

On March 8th, feminists across the world will recognize International Women’s Day. We’ll march, we’ll chant, and we’ll raise awareness for gender parity. If you’re unsure about how you want to celebrate International Women’s Day, you can first start small by changing your Facebook profile picture to kick off the occasion.

This year’s International Women’s Day campaign theme is #PressforProgress. The meaning behind the hashtag stems from the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report, which states that we are 200 years away from gender parity. Listen, we don’t have time to wait that long. That’s why we need to #PressforProgress in order to lessen that 200-year span between now and an equal world.

Of course, taking action and becoming vocal is the best way to get the progress we need in motion. But to get warmed up for the battle ahead, changing your profile picture to reflect your mission is a great first step. To do so, first head over to Twibbon.com, where you can choose one of several International Women’s Day-themed banners to complement your profile pic.

As Bustle mentioned, Twibbon is a useful site to get any kind of campaign message across via social media profile photos. And there are several banners in support of International Women’s Day to choose from.

Pick any of the banners created for International Women’s Day to get started. We decided on the second option — the purple awareness ribbon. The site will then ask you to log in with Facebook or Twitter to alter either platform’s profile photo.

You can then crop your profile photo with the new banner, change the image, and/or add a message of support. Your friends and followers will be able to see the message once your image is posted to social media.

Once you click “Add the Twibbon to Facebook,” you’ll then be able to set the photo as your Facebook profile picture.

You can also check out the Frames available on Facebook for the event. Go to your profile and hover over your profile photo. Click “Update Profile Picture” and then flick “Add Frame.” You can use the search bar to type in International Women’s Day and pick from one of the user-uploaded frames available.
