The big “How I Met Your Mother”/”Breaking Bad” connection you might have missed your first binge

How I Met Your Mother ran from 2005-2014, spanning nine LEGENDARY seasons. Breaking Bad ran from 2008-2013, spanning five “I am the danger” seasons. You’ve binged both by now — RIGHT? — but there’s one big thing you might have missed connecting these two shows together.
Wait for it…
Walter White and Saul Goodman are Ted and Marshall’s bosses.
This is a #TruthFact. Bryan Cranston makes his debut as Ted’s boss, Hammond Druthers, in Season 2, Episode 6, “Aldrin Justice.” Or, the episode with the Pete Rose Pete Rose Pete Rose baseball. This was back in 2006, back when Cranston was better known as “Malcolm’s Dad,” and two full years before he’d go full-Heisenberg.
As for Bob Odenkirk, he played Arthur Hobbs, Marshall’s boss. He first shows up in Season 3, Episode 15, “The Chain of Screaming.” Or, the episode with The Ninja Report. This was in 2008, and while Breaking Bad had already started airing, Saul Goodman wouldn’t be introduced until Season 2.
These two characters sadly never crossed paths on the show, but at least we know they went on to do great things in Albuquerque. Interpret “great” however you see fit.
Is your mind a little bit blown? And are you suddenly super sad that Jesse Pinkman never showed up as one of Robin’s co-workers? Gus never popped up as a GNB investor? Marie never played Lily’s pre-school teacher rival? Yeah, us too.
