How and where did Kate Hudson meet boyfriend Danny Fujikawa? Their love story is so sweet

Congratulations are in order: Kate Hudson just revealed she’s pregnant with baby #3. Here’s what we know so far: The baby is a girl (her first!) and will join big brothers Ryder, 14, and Bingham, six. This is Hudson’s first child with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa. You might be unfamiliar with Fujikawa, but he’s actually been in Hudson’s life for quite some time.

Back in December, Hudson posted a sweet photo with Fujikawa to mark the first anniversary of their first date, and also dropped some serious intel about their origin story as a couple. The two met while Hudson was pregnant with her first son, Ryder. At the time, Hudson was married to Chris Robinson, the lead singer of The Black Crowes.

To understand how far back they go, Ryder just turned 14 this past January…meaning Fujikawa has been in Hudson’s life in some capacity for about 15 years.

He’s also apparently step-brother to Sara and Erin Foster, who are two of Kate Hudson’s best friends. “We have been in the same circle for over a decade,” Hudson wrote on Instagram.

And since Sara and Erin are based in Los Angeles, we’d wager that the initial meet-up happened in California.

Hudson revealed that she didn’t have any idea that their first date was a date at all. In her mind, she was just going for a hike with a friend.

"No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move!" Hudson admitted. "And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter."

Fujikawa is a musician who also owns a record label called Lightwave Records. Prior to the announcement, Hudson has had only glowing things to say about her beau. The two made a public appearance together in May 2017 — and when asked by Us Weekly about what she liked most about him, she responded with “How long do you have? He’s a good man.” Aww.

We’re overjoyed for Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa, and can’t wait for the arrival of their little girl.
