“Houseparty” is an app that makes it so you never have to go to a real party ever again *praise hands*

Once upon a time, way back in the ‘90s and early ‘00s, chat rooms were all the rage. It was a place where a bunch of friends could hang out from the comfort of their own homes. Flash forward to 2017, where the technology has improved but the idea is still the same. Houstparty is the latest in streaming apps where you can essentially FaceTime with a bunch of people at the same time. It’s essentially a video chat room for friends to share gossip and hang out, but in a bunch of different locations.

The app, which was launched in late 2016, aims to be the perfect app to ensure you never get FOMO again.

The app seems like an amazing way to connect with a bunch of friends when you’re all in different places, which is why it seems like the perfect app for college students, who can use it to talk to their high school friends at their colleges or for when they’re studying abroad and want to connect with friends in other countries or back home.

Right now, it looks like the app is starting to pick up steam as an easy alternative to FaceTime or Facebook messenger videos. The app allows you to connect with friends and join a conversation that’s in progress. It also features a “locked room” mode that doesn’t allow people to join a private conversation.

The app is still relatively new and it’ll be interesting to see if it has the longevity of other popular Snapchat, which seems to be a competitor, despite being a different style of app. Apps tend to go through fads where it seems like it’s everywhere for a while before ultimately being abandoned for the next best thing.

We think Houseparty seems like a really cool idea and can’t wait to use it!
