This hotel is a life-sized sandcastle and we want to stay there

Jimi Hendrix would be proud, ’cause there’s actually a castle made of sand setting up shop in the Netherlands — and you can stay there! The Zand Hotel was built as a part of a sand sculpture festival in a few select towns in the Netherlands, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: A hotel made out of sand.

Built over four weeks by event organizers at Global PowWow, the hotel boasts 60 rooms with electricity and running water. There’s no roughing it at this establishment; the rooms are just like any other hotel room you’ve stayed at, just, you know, made out of sand. Take a look:

Cozy, right?

You can take comfort in the fact that while the building is sand, the amenities are not. I spy chairs and and curtains and even a TV!

The website describes it all perfectly:

And an affordable one. A night in this bad boy will cost you around €150 or $168, so no more than any other hotel. But be warned, you’ll probably have to wait a while to get your turn. It’s fully booked for this year.

But no worries! Because of its crazy success, organizers are planning to do this again next year in even more locations, like the UK and Germany, so everybody can get a chance to stay in their very own sandcastle. Let’s just hope it’s not near any big waves.
