One of our fave new horror stars is coming to Game of Thrones

Even though Season 6 of Game of Thrones may not (OR IT MAY) contain Jon Snow, we do know some other fabulous people who are going to be involved with the series when it returns next year. The new season is currently shooting (as in right now new episodes of GoT are being born and it’s beautiful), and we’ve just learned of another awesome name who’s joined the cast: Australian actress Essie Davis is going to play Cersei in Season 6!

Hold up, what? Just go with this for a second. Season 6 of Game of Thrones will, at one point, include a staging of some of the events in Game of Thrones, so like a play-within-GoT type thing. According to Entertainment Weekly, the play will be staged by a traveling theater group in Braavos. The play’s title is “The Bloody Hand” and in it, Davis is going to portray Cersei. Clearly, the story of the Lannisters has spread all the way across the sea, just like Arya. She’s in Braavos right now. Might she be the one to check out this performance of “The Bloody Hand?” That is, if she can see again. Remember, she kinda can’t see right now.

Davis is best known for her role in the 2014 horror movie, The Babadook, in which she starred as a single-mother named Amelia who had to battle her son’s inner (and outer) demons. She was also in the last two Matrix movies, and she appeared in Australia’s OG version of the TV show, The Slap.

From what we know based on her casting announcement, it sounds like Davis will only appear in one episode of Game of Thrones. But, if she does a spot on Cersei, that news could make its way back to King’s Landing, and the real queen mother might want a performance stated of “The Bloody Hand,” too. Only time will tell if that idea is fan fiction or actual Game of Thrones truth.
