Hilary Duff defends herself against the people who thought it wasn’t okay that she kissed her son
Hillary Duff Instagrammed some motherly love, and now she’s on the defensive for the Instagram hate she got. The actress inadvertently sparked an unnecessary debate Monday after sharing a photo in which she kisses her 4-year-old son Luca on the lips in front of Disneyland’s “it’s a small world.”
Though the photo is totally adorable, she got seriously trolled with gross comments on the photo like, “I think you can show love in many other ways, but kissing in the mouth with kids/parents/relatives its just weird and sick” and “there’s other ways to show love but not that one. It’s confusing for him, it’s not healthy,” as well as many more vile, sexual comments that we will not post here.
Of course, most of the commenters came to her defense, posting their love and admiration for her.
“Adorbs! Such a sweet moment and looks like a fun, happy family day!”
To the haters, Duff had some words of her own, sharing a post Tuesday that read,
“For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four year old is ‘inappropriate’ go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgement.”
Duff does seem to cause a little controversy from time to time, whether worthy of condemnation or not. In October, she apologized after she and ex-boyfriend Jason Walsh dressed as a pilgrim and a Native American for a Halloween party.
She admitted that was a culturally insensitive misstep, but here, she’s taking no flack.
She’s a loving mother to a 4-year-old who knows there is no shame in that.
One thing’s for sure, though. With social media, it certainly is a (too) small(minded) world after all.
