Hillary Clinton wins New Jersey and New Mexico, secures Democratic nomination, makes HISTORY!
Today is a huge day for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Primaries were held in Montana, New Jersey, North and South Dakota, New Mexico, and California. So far, Clinton has won New Jersey and New Mexico— and although Monday night it was reported that she had enough delegates already to clinch the Democratic party’s nomination, the news of these wins is huge. Because Clinton is the presumptive Democratic Party’s nominee. false
Why is this win so important?
Clinton’s lead in delegates means that she will very likely be the first woman on the presidential ballot.
In her victory speech, Clinton triumphantly stated, “We are all standing under a glass ceiling right now… But don’t worry, we’re not smashing this one. Thanks to you, we’ve reached a milestone tonight … The first time in our nation’s history that a woman will be a major party’s nominee for president.”

What now?
According to Quartz, Clinton still needs a third of California’s delegates by 8 p.m. tonight. Even with just under 50 percent, she will have more than 215 delegates she requires in order to defeat Senator Bernie Sanders. false
What about Bernie Sanders?
So far, Sanders has not dropped out of the race. According to The New York Times, Sanders has not held any meetings in regards to whether he should withdraw, and he doesn’t have any speeches prepared to announce his withdrawal. It looks like he’ll keep fighting until the Democratic convention in July — regardless of the California primary results.
