Hillary Clinton responded to Trump’s “national wall emergency” by tweeting a list of ACTUAL emergencies
The federal government is currently embroiled in an all-out war over President Donald Trump’s border wall. As 2018 drew to a close, Trump and Congress failed to reach an agreement about funding for the wall, leading to a partial government shutdown. Even after the government resumed normal operations, Trump has continued to push for wall funding, recently declaring a state of emergency in order to obtain it. Many politicians have criticized Trump’s decision—including Hillary Clinton. On February 18th, Clinton tweeted her own list of “real national emergencies.” Her compilation was short but direct, calling out several of the current administration’s policies.
She tweeted:
"The real national emergencies: Relentless gun violence. Children separated from their families at the border. Climate change. Americans dying for lack of health care."

– Children separated from their families at the border.
– Climate change.

Leave it to Clinton to have the perfect clapback for Trump. And she’s not the only one who considers Trump’s wall a non-emergency. According to The New York Times, 16 states are suing the president over the declaration, arguing that only Congress has the power to control government spending. Many Americans are also unhappy. An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll published today, February 19th, found that 61% of Americans are opposed to the state of emergency.
Even Trump admitted that the border wall wasn’t an urgent issue. The New Yorker reports that during a February 15th press conference, he told a reporter: “I could do the wall over a longer period of time. I didn’t need to do this. But I’d rather do it much faster.”
Basically, we’re so tired but thankful to Clinton for continuing to keep it 100% real about Trump’s poor decision-making.
