Thanks to the popular vote, Hillary Clinton is coming to a CBS show this fall
The season premiere of Madam Secretary is about to get very diplomatic when it returns in the fall for Season 5. During the premiere, Téa Leoni’s titular Secretary of State will find herself in need of some serious advice…leading her to call on three former Secretaries of State.
That’s right, CBS Sunday night is about to get wild as real-life former Secretaries — Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Madeleine Albright — are all slated to appear in the Madam Secretary premiere in October. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trio’s cameo in the episode was filmed just last week as the series returned to production and will air on October 7th.
The diplomatic trio will reportedly offer advice to the series’ fictional Secretary, Elizabeth McCord, as she handles a “delicate” situation during the premiere.
Considering the show is about a Secretary of State’s ventures as the top-ranking U.S. diplomat, the series is pretty psyched to have nabbed three of McCord’s real-life counterparts. Executive producer Lori McCreary told THR, “Having three powerhouses of diplomacy agree to come on our show is awe-inspiring and humbling. And that we were able to find a time in their busy schedules when they were all available is a miracle.”
NCIS is shook.
We can only imagine what sort of sticky situation McCord finds herself in that she has to call her real-life — and likely fictional — predecessors. While we have a feeling Clinton, Powell, and Albright won’t be turning their appearances into recurring roles, we can still hope.
Albright became the first female Secretary of State in 1997, serving during President Bill Clinton’s second administration. Powell succeeded Albright, serving as Secretary during President George W. Bush’s first term before leaving the post in 2005. Clinton served as Secretary of State during President Barack Obama’s first term, leaving the position in 2013.
We can’t wait to see Clinton bring some much needed diplomacy to our lives…this fall, only on CBS. Madam Secretary returns for Season 5 on October 7th.
