Hillary Clinton also escapes election stress with cat GIFs, and she’s never been more relatable
By now, we seriously hope you know that we’re SO CLOSE to the presidential election. Like, so close. And, honestly, we’re feeling a pretty solid mixture of relief and terror, because OMG, what, how is this real life?! And we’re being so serious, you guys, when we say that this election season is taking a major toll on so many of us — like, election stress is 100% a real thing sending people to therapists now. Sometimes, you just need to back away from it all and find some self care in the form of hilarious baby videos and cat GIFs. And, in case you were wondering, so does Hillary Clinton.
Yep, like, for real: Hillary Clinton turns to cat GIFs to escape election stress.
We’ve never felt so much like a politician, except for maybe that time Obama rocked health goth like NO OTHER.
According to Business Insider, democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton turns to cat GIFs in her time of need.
Clinton said that attacks from Trump makes her "want to unplug the internet or just look at cat GIFs" at her San Francisco fundraiser on Thursday.
Clinton elaborated,
"The whole world has heard Trump brag about how he mistreats women and the disturbing stories just keep coming."
She said it’s about more than that, though clearly sexism is a MAJOR issue this election season.
"But it's more than just the way he degrades women, as horrible as that is. He has attacked immigrants, African-Americans, Latinos, people with disabilities, POWs, Muslims, and ... our military, which he called a disaster."
And then she got to the cat GIFs, and we were straight up LOL-ing (and also crying, because us too, Hillary. Us too).
"There's hardly any part of America that he has not targeted. It makes you want to turn off the news. It makes you want to unplug the internet or just look at cat GIFs."
She’s sympathetic to our need to escape, but hopes we remember to pay attention, too.
"Believe me, I get it," she said. "In the last few weeks I've watched a lot of cats do a lot of weird and interesting things. But we have a job to do and it'll be good for people and for cats."
