Hilary Duff’s “Just Normal”

Hilary Duff has her priorities in order. Girl is lookin’ real good one year after giving birth to baby Luca, and she’s totally fine with the time it’s taken her to lose the 50 pounds she gained during pregnancy.

And while it’s common for most celebs to “bounce back” from baby with crash diets and hardcore workout schedules in less than 4 weeks, Hil recognized that that’s not a reality she wanted to deal with. (2003 Hilary Duff might even be moved to say that post-baby crash diets are “So Yesterday.” I loved 2003 Hilary Duff.)

Not that there’s anything wrong with being the kind of person who wants to spend two hours in the gym every day, as long it’s making you happy. Because while 50 pounds can seem like a metric ton to someone Hilary’s height (5’2″), the big takeaway here is that Duff has struggled with her weight for years (as a teenage t.v. star on Lizzie McGuire, she was told she was “too heavy” for t.v. and proceeded to get scary-skinny in 2005), and now she’s found other things, like the company of her son, to make her happy. Because it’s hard to find happiness in your appearance alone.

Hilary’s also been working with Johnson’s Baby Cares and Save the Children, which support programs like early childhood education and help underprivileged new moms.
