Hilary Duff says she’s judged and pigeonholed by Hollywood for being a young mom and that’s not okay
As woman we have come so far, but after listening to Hilary Duff on The Talk we can not believe that woman in Hollywood are considered “over” if they have children. Although Duff has had a fruitful career she is still judged and pigeonholed by Hollywood for being a young mom.
“I feel like I was judged for having a baby too soon, and getting married too soon and now, I’m pigeonholed for being a mom, said Duff, who gave birth to Luca, 4, when she was 24. And she adds that it's a double-edged sword, that “lots of women in the industry that don’t have a child are [also] judged.
Damned if you do (too soon) and damed if you don’t.
Although woman are in high demand for movies and TV shows, Duff still feels that women in Hollywood go through a lot more pressure than their male costars.
“We are the most in demand and the most desirable, but the most judged and the hardest on one another, she said, adding “It’s so much scrutiny. Nobody cares about men’s personal lives as much as women, she said.
She also adds that it is very difficult dealing with the attention celebrities get in regards to their personal lives, due to social media.
“It just seems scarier than ever because of how much attention celebrities get because of their personal life now and how much focus is on that and how much one person can say one thing and how much impact it can have. It’s crazy, she said.
We’re rooting for you Hilary!
