Hilary Duff called pregnancy “hard as hell” in a super real Instagram post, and we love her honesty
It’s obvious that Hilary Duff is so excited to welcome her second child into the world, but that doesn’t mean that pregnancy has been a walk in the park. If you’ve been following her pregnancy so far, you already know there’s no doubt about it: This mama is glowing in every photo and video she’s posted. But the truth is never as simple as the highlight reel we see online, and now, Duff’s opening up in a way that could help other moms-to-be.
In an incredibly honest Instagram post she shared on Wednesday night, Duff got real. Even though she’s excited to have her second baby, pregnancy is rough, y’all, and she is ready to have her body back.
“The boobs are big, the belly is big, the body is big,” she wrote. “Man.. pregnancy is hard.”
“Giving love to all mamas who make it look effortless,” she wrote. “This journey is hard as hell and also incredibly special. Lovely to have a little life inside and to day dream of all the new adventures to come buuuut almost impossible to get my own shoes on.”
Uh, yeah, that’s just one thing on the laundry list of things that become more difficult when you’re busy growing a human life inside of you – and it can definitely become exhausting.
Duff went on to add that she’s tired of getting up “9 times a night” to pee, and how weird it is to look at her body in a mirror when it doesn’t even feel like it belongs to her. But she also ended the post on a positive note, saying that all of these things prove (once again) that women are badass.
“Women are so bad ass, this was just a note to remind myself and remind others how’s [sic] strong and beautiful you are! WE GOT THIS!” she wrote.
Pregnancy can be miserable and amazing at the same time; you can love that you’re growing a life and also be completely exhausted by it. Duff deserves props for being so honest, and hopefully she’ll soon have a night where she doesn’t have to wake up to pee so often (although let’s be real, that’s probably unlikely). We can’t wait to see the rest of her pregnancy and eventually her little girl.
