Hilary Duff explains why she was so open to making her relationship with Jason Walsh public
While keeping her life private is usually the actress’s style, Hilary Duff did open up about going public with her ex Jason Walsh recently. The former Disney star likes to keep her personal life to herself, but talking about her ex, doesn’t bother her.
In Cosmopolitan’s February issue, Duff revealed why she did in fact go public when she was dating Walsh (who was her personal trainer) and her reason is SO real.
After sharing her romance with her fans on social media — aka posting a PDA-filled picture in October 2016 — Duff doesn’t regret being open about it.
“I was like, ‘F**k it. He’s my boyfriend,’” Duff told Cosmopolitan. “I just needed to make sure it was right.”
“People don’t need to know my business until I really know my business, you know?” she added.
The 29-year-old actress also explained that although their personal relationship was good, their working one took a hit once they began dating.
“He’s like, ‘You don’t listen to me anymore! I give up,’” she explained. “I have a different trainer now.”
At the time of the interview, the Younger star was still dating Walsh. The two split in November 2016 and Duff is keeping the reasons to herself…do you blame her?
Although the pair is no longer together, the former Disney Channel star revealed that their relationship was way longer than people knew. “We were seeing each other for a while. People don’t know the ins and outs of everything,” she said. “It was definitely my first more serious relationship since my ex-husband [Mike Comrie].”
Duff clearly has a healthy outlook on relationships, which is proven by her open and honest communication with Comrie, who she shares son Luca with. In fact, she told the publication that the two talk about other romances, because they are SO a modern family.
"I don't want to talk too much about that. But yeah, we do. We feel like it's respectful to keep everybody in the loop," Duff revealed. "I don't know as much about his life as he knows about mine because mine's a lot more public."
Even though Duff went public with Walsh, and is constantly navigating her relationship with Comrie, she seems to have it all under control.
Plus, she’s got a new BF now, Matthew Koma, who she already brought out with her into the spotlight during the SAG Awards festivities over the weekend.
