Hilary Duff’s thoughts on Tinder dating are a must-read for every single millennial

As fellow singletons in our late 20s (okay, okay, early 30s), it’s so, so great to hear Hilary Duff’s thoughts on dating and Tinder — mainly, that she’s “not desperate” to find a man despite insane societal pressure to do so, and happy with her life the way it is.

In her (pretty rad) February 2017 Cosmopolitan mag cover, Duff reveals that she’s “never been a good dater” (same), but also isn’t exactly sweating it now that her divorce from former professional hockey player Mike Comrie has been finalized.

“I meet, like, one person a year that I’m maybe attracted to,” Duff — who famously experimented with Tinder back in 2014 when she first split up with Comrie — told the mag, basically echoing all of our thoughts on dating on the internet.

"I never want to be that girl who's desperate to find a mate."

Obviously, Duff is only 29 years old, and still has all the time in the world to find a dude if she so desires. But her words are refreshing to hear, as more women (like very recently, Michelle Williams) are speaking out on the importance of other relationships in a woman’s life — besides those with a romantic partner — being just as nourishing and crucial for her health.

“I think I’m a pretty confident person,” Duff, who most recently dated trainer Jason Walsh for five months, continued. “I’ve had a career for a long time, but I’ve put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself as a woman, a businessperson, an actress. I’m like, ‘Am I doing enough?’ Everyone I’ve talked to says you come into your own in your 30s. You feel more secure. I’m looking forward to that.”

Well, with an attitude like this, we think that Duff will be pretty dang fine as she enters her 30s, and continues to put her relationships with her son Luca, her sister, and her friends on the pedestals they deserve.

Because ultimately, caring about what others think about your dating life is so, so yesterday.
