Hilary Duff’s first song in years is a 2000s-era cover with her husband Matthew Koma
Hilary Duff has dug her heels deep into the early-2000s nostalgia as of late. First, she began filming a reboot to her Disney Channel classic Lizzie McGuire. And now, she and husband Matthew Koma teamed up to release a cover of Third Eye Blind’s “Never Let You Go”—her first song in forever. We don’t know what year it is anymore, and TBH, we really don’t care.
Duff and Koma, who were married in December 2019, produced their rendition of the 2000 Third Eye Blind hit with their musician and producer friend RAC. “This started out as something we were doing just for fun and I think it comes through,” RAC wrote in a February 12th Instagram post.
"To say that @matthewkoma and I are fans of 3EB is a massive understatement," Duff captioned her own February 7th Instagram post. "These records actually play a huge part in our love story....Matt came home before Christmas and told me our good friend @rac wanted him to cover this and I weaseled my way right in there too."
Hilary Duff can “weasel” her way into any song she wants when it’s this good, in our opinion.
It’s a little vintage, a bit techno, and so, so fun to listen to. We’re taking this cover all the way through Valentine’s Day into summer. Just imagine bopping to this on the beach…? It’s too good.
“One time, [Third Eye Blind frontman] Stephan Jenkins called me an obsessed fan. Maybe it’s because I address my amazon packages to his name?” Koma joked in his February 12th Instagram. “Anyway, here’s a cover of @thirdeyeblind I sang with my wife @hilaryduff and our son @rac.” RAC, by the way, commented “thanks dad.”
