Squee for a ‘High School Musical’ reunion! Squee for what the Wildcats look like today!
We’re all in this together, and that includes High School Musical reunions. Thought it wasn’t an official reunion with the whole cast (where are you, Zac Efron??) a few former Wildcats gathered together over the weekend to celebrate the premiere of the newest Disney Channel Original Movie, Descendants — which was directed by HSM director, Kenny Ortega. A reunion at the premiere only makes sense.
So who showed up to this little mini-reunion? Wildcats, roll call: We’ve got Corbin Blu, who played basketball bro Chad; Ashley Tisdale, who played the self-loving high school princess, Sharpay; Lucas Gabreel, who played Ryan, Sharpay’s twin brother who was always in her shadow; Monique Coleman, who played Taylor, the decathlon team’s captain and Gabriella’s best friend; and finally; Olesya Rulin, who played Kelsi, the shy piano player who manages to find her voice and stand up against Sharpay.
Ortega posted one big snapshot of the group actually getting their picture taken, and then the group selfie, too, captioning both images with how much he loves this group. We love them all, too!
Blu also tweeted that he loved being the “old vets” of the event. Think he and the rest of the gang gave any sort of pep-talk to the new kids in Descendants? They’re about to reach the same HSM Disney Channel fame in just a few short days.
Along with Efron, Vanessa Hudgens was also MIA from the reunion, but she has a good excuse: She just finished starring in the Broadway show Gigi, and is still in New York City. That’s seems like a proper ending for Gabriella, right? Efron, meanwhile, is in Hawaii shooting Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates (with Anna Kendrick).
This get together marks the seven-year Wildcats reunion for the gang, so there’s always hope that everyone will turn up for the 10-year reunion. Either way, we’ll always have the music. And the memories. Also the dancing and the singing to go along with all three movies in the series. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
