Here’s why season 2 of “Atlanta” will be delayed until 2018
Our Season 2 anticipations skyrocketed after Atlanta won Best Comedy Series at the Golden Globes, yet we have to temper our anticipation. The second season of the Donald Glover-led comedy has been postponed. Because, Star Wars.
In 2017, Glover will be filming the upcoming Star Wars movie, in which he plays a young Lando Calrissian.
Therefore, we won’t get to watch new episodes of Atlanta until 2018 “due to [Glover’s] production schedule,” FX announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
And how do we feel about having to delay our Atlanta gratification?!

The fantastical universe he’ll be inhabiting in the film makes Glover’s acceptance speech for Best Actor in a Comedy Series even more relevant.
“I grew up in a house where magic wasn’t allowed, so everybody in here is magical to me,” Glover said. “Every time I saw a movie…I realized that magic is from people.”
“We’re the ones who kind of, in a weird way, lie to children so they do stuff they never thought was possible. I want to say thank you to my son and the mother of my son for making me believe in people again.”

Given his incredible work as artist manager Earnest Marks in Atlanta, as well as his own music, created under the pseudonym Childish Gambino, we’d say Donald Glover IS magic.
