Here’s what Reese Witherspoon has to say about her daughter turning 18

Ready to feel old? Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava is almost 18, and we honestly remember when she was born. Witherspoon gave birth to her blonde mini-me back in 1999, and the two have always been incredibly close. In fact, for Witherspoon’s birthday, Ava posted a sweet photo on Instagram and called her mom “one of my best friends.”

It seems like Witherspoon is on the same page. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, taken during the Big Little Lies FYC event in Los Angeles, the topic of Ava’s upcoming September birthday came up.

"It’s so weird. I can’t believe she’s 18," the actress said. "But she’s great, and we did it together. I feel like we grew up together, it’s great."

Since the actress gave birth at the age of 23, we can understand.

One thing we also love is the fact that Witherspoon isn’t afraid for her children to see any of her roles. Alongside Ava,  she has 13-year-old Deacon with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe and 4-year-old Tennessee with husband Jim Toth.

"I mean all of them are a labor of love and effort that you put into them," she said. "I’m very proud of the fact that I’ve worked a lot in my life. Actually my very first premiere ever in my entire life was in this building, so it was so funny, when I was 14 years old."

Even though Witherspoon got into acting at a young age, she made a good decision in not pressuring her children to do the same. Of course, she’s often asked about Ava’s interest in pursuing a similar career.

"She’s still in school so she has a lot of time to think about what she wants to do, Witherspoon said to Vanity Fair this February. "I want for her whatever she wants for herself."

We simply love the fact that she’s so supportive. While it’s early, we hope that Ava has the absolute best 18th birthday.
