Here’s what Disney princesses would look like if they were Mean Girls!
For this week’s Disney Mashups, we decided to reimagine one of our favorite movies, ever: Mean Girls. Even though it came out 11 years ago, it’s still endlessly revenant to our lives, and let’s be real — Mean Girls will never, ever, not in a million years, get old. We will still be saying, “You can’t sit with us!” “I just have a lot of feelings!” “Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen!” and “On Wednesdays we wear pink!” until the end of time, and that’s just how it’s gonna be (#SorryNotSorry).
Plus, we’ve got some exciting news to relay: the Mean Girls musical is expected to start production THIS summer! According to The Daily Mail, “the script should be finished within months,” and Mean Girls writer Tina Fey is still the genius behind the project. Jeff Richmond, the composer who created the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt theme song (and Tina Fey’s husband), shared with Yahoo that the script is already “60 percent written and being staffed creatively.” That IS so fetch.
So, because we love Mean Girls and because we also love Disney princesses, we decided to do the right thing and dress up our princesses as The Plastics: Cady Heron, Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith. Our infinitely talented illustrator, Maritza Lugo brought the mashup vision to life, and created something insanely awesome:
Can you guess who’s who?
Obviously The Plastics aren’t the only characters pivotal to the storyline. Janis Ian and Damian basically CREATED Cady. So, Janis and Damian got the Disney treatment, too.
