Here’s everything we know about Drew Barrymore’s upcoming talk show
Get ready to see a lot more of Drew Barrymore. According to several reports, the Hollywood mogul and entrepreneur is getting her own CBS talk show next fall. Can we set our DVRs to record something a year in advance, or…?
Barrymore recently wrapped up her comedic Netflix series, Santa Clarita Diet, which she starred in and executive produced. With a clean slate ahead of her, it seems the actress is ready for a new venture—more specifically, a venture in daytime TV.
"It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show," Barrymore said in a press release, per the Hollywood Reporter. "I'm truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS."
Barrymore reportedly filmed a pilot episode for the upcoming syndicated talk show in August, and it was quickly picked up by CBS and given a loose launch date of fall 2020. “Drew is a huge star and a breath of fresh air—her show will energize any station’s lineup,” CBS Global Distribution Group COO and CFO Steve LoCascio told the Hollywood Reporter, and we couldn’t agree more.
Not only will Barrymore headline the talk show, but she’ll also receive an executive producer credit.
She’ll be joined by co-producers Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell, who also executive produced Santa Clarita Diet. Basically, the currently-nameless show will be like a big family reunion.
Barrymore joins a star-studded list of celebs who are getting their own talk shows next year. Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall, Mel Robbins, and Nick Cannon are all slated to headline their own daytime TV projects, and heck, we might just start watching cable again.
As more information unfolds about Barrymore’s latest endeavor, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the details.
