Here’s how brutally hot it’s probably going to be this summer across the U.S.

If you were thinking that the temperature outside is currently pleasant — as in comfortably warm — enjoy the last days of spring while they last! Scientists at The Climate Prediction Center have predicted an unusually steep rise in temperature over the coming summer months, which basically means we need to stock up on our sunscreen because it’s going to get abnormally HOT and dry in nearly every state in North America, including Alaska and even Hawaii.

Apparently Alaska’s Aleutian Islands will be hit with the most offensive change, but it’s also going to be particularly boiling in California. Naturally there’s little chance of relief rain on the horizon, except for those central states like Nebraska and Kansas, which might have to tolerate an average, occasionally wet, nothing-to-write-home-about summer (that we anticipate being jealous of!).

BUT, there’s always a silver lining, right? Looking ahead to the future, scientists predict below-normal temperatures for the north and central U.S. — so overwhelmingly hot summers shouldn’t last forever (phewf!).
