Here are the skincare products the HelloGiggles editorial team went crazy for this year

When it came to 2016 beauty crazes, skincare really had its time in the spotlight. Everybody and their momma got in on the Korean beauty trend, Instagram-worthy face masks, and even discovered drugstore skincare secrets that have been around forever, but finally made its way into the mainstream. (Aztec clay masks, Bio-Oil, and Rosewater spray, anyone?)

The HelloGiggles editorial team are big fans of skincare, and we are always on the hunt for new products that will DESTROY zits, make our skin glow, and give us baby soft foreheads. Here are 13 of our favorites from 2016.

1Dr. Brandt Skincare Magnetight Age-Defier, $75

The first time I tried this mask was during our Facebook Live and it immediately became one of my favorites. It isn’t something I’d recommend for breakouts, but if you want to have insanely soft, luscious skin, this baby is a MUST. Plus, the whole magnet thing is fun to do! – Marie Lodi, Beauty Editor

2Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mask, $6.99

I have combination skin, but during the summer months, my oils get out of control! This mask minimizes my pores, plus it REALLY cleans my face. I also love that it leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth as a baby’s bottom! – Alyssa Morin, Associate Beauty Editor

3Egg White Bubble Cleanser, $13.57

This foaming wash changed everything for me. My skin went from being pissy, dry, and broken out all the time to moisturized and mostly clear. This formula is super mild and light and feels so luxurious! – Gina Vaynshteyn, Editorial Director

4Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion by Bare Minerals, $48

This face serum makes your face feel like HEAVEN. It leaves it supple and bright, healthy-looking, and hella dewy. I’ve started to use it every morning before I moisturize and I don’t think I’ve had a bad skin day since. It also smells amazing. – Gina Vaynshteyn, Editorial Director

5Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay, $26

Seeing as my skin takes every opportunity to be a sensitive mess, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this mask and it didn’t leave me looking like a new kind of monster. Instead, it left my temperamental complexion feeling soothed and cleansed, without being too abrasive or drying. I also love that there are Jojoba beads in this beauty, which makes for a lovely exfoliation sesh when you go to rinse this pale pink concoction off your face. – Anna Gragert, Associate Editor

6Dr. Jart Dermask Micro Jet Brightening Solution, $9

I was really into sheet masks this year, and I tried practically all of them. But my favorite — the one where I could actually see the difference after I used it — was Dr. Jart’s brightening mask. These are a little too luxurious for regular use, but I love to save them right before a special event. And sometimes I like to freak my family out and leave the mask on while I FaceTime them. – Emily Popp, Deputy Editor

7Curology, $19.95 per month

I do this skincare service called Curology where they send you a serum every three months based on photos you send them of your face. It sounds like a fake thing, but my serum is a combo of tretinoin, Vitamin c, and niacinamide. It’s some real RX strength shit and now my skin is smooth AF. – Madison Vanderberg, Senior Editor

8L’Oréal Detox & Brightening Mask, $11.04

This drugstore mask completely blew me away. The consistency is so thick, it feels like applying a cartoon mud mask — so satisfying! I noticed a difference in my skin after one use. This stuff acts like a vacuum for blackheads. – Christina Wolfgram, Video Producer

9Dr. G. Brightening Peeling Gel, $16

When you rub this on your face, you can actually feel dead skin ball up under your fingers. It’s magic and leaves your skin so bright and clean. Just make sure to moisturize right after! – Christina Wolfgram, Video Producer

10Spa Nouveau Rosehip Seed Oil, $12.95

I find that a few drops of rose hip oil makes my skin look super bright and dewy. It provides that super natural “glow from within” quality without clogging my pores. I also apply it over my regular moisturizer before bed when I really want to lock in that moisture. – Toria Sheffield, News Editor

11Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting BHA Gel Exfoliant, $29

I’ve always had a ton of blackheads on and around my nose, and this is literally the only product I’ve ever used that made a real difference. It also evens out your skin overall and many of my friends and family have told me how bright my skin looks these days. Love it! – Toria Sheffield, News Editor

12Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme, $4.75

Like everyone else, I’m all about face masks this year, but my favorite thing will always be my classic lotion. It’s a thick cream and I love to slather it on rougher spots like my heels, stuff my feet into fluffy socks, and let the lotion marinate until I’m baby smooth. I keep big tubs in my bedroom and bathroom and tiny travel size tins in my purse and car. – Chelsea Duff, Weekend Editor

13Skyn Iceland Glacial Face Wash, $30

I fell in love with Skyn Iceland products this year because 1. They remind me of my trips to Iceland, and 2. This cleanser is the first one I’ve ever used where I felt my face get REALLY clean. (Especially when I use it with my Clarisonic.) Their other products, like masks and eye brighteners, have taken my skincare routine to the next level. Love ’em! – Marie Lodi, Beauty Editor
