Henry Cavill just cheekily shared that there is no drama surrounding his mustache
Henry Cavill’s facial hair is not causing ~drama~ with Justice League reshoots, thank you very much.
Cavill took to social media to clear up rumors that the mustache he had grown for Mission: Impossible 6 was causing headaches for Justice League reshoots, thus putting an end to what we will affectionately call #MustacheGate2017.
Basically, this whole debacle started when reports came out that Paramount — the studio behind Mission: Impossible 6 — would not allow Cavill to shave his facial hair as he jumped between the two projects. Per Variety, the mustache in question will thus have to be digitally removed in post-production for Justice League. (Because, Superman with a mustache ain’t gonna fly.)
Cavill finally put rumors of any trouble to bed by taking to Instagram today, to explain — in a delightfully playful way — that his mustache is NOT a problem.
"Dear followers, it is time to finally set the record straight in this moustache fiasco," he wrote. "Pictured above, is not a set on MI6 but is in fact the latest in a series of weapons being designed by Warner Bros and Paramount Studios to combat the entity known as 'Henry Cavill's Moustache.' There has been no discussion over whether to shave or not to shave for the JL reshoots, simply a relentless campaign to put an end to the seemingly inexorable conquest of this despotic 'stache. It is not a question of IF I should shave - it is a question of how can we possibly be victorious against such a beast without bringing our own doom raining down upon us."
In case this has left you with a hankering to see what #MustacheImpossible looks like up close, please enjoy this other recent Instagram post from the actor.
Also, reshoots be damned, because Justice League — which stars Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Ben Affleck, and so, so many more A-listers — already looks incredibly epic.
At the end of the day, we cannot wait to see all of the above. Until then, farewell #MustacheGate2017.
