Henry Cavill just accepted a new movie role…over Instagram
In what might be the height of Hollywood weirdness, Henry Cavill joined the cast of Mission Impossible 6 seemingly by responding to an Instagram post from the director, Christopher McQuarrie. Unconventional, but sure, we’re into it.
Cavill is an obvious choice for a badass spy movie, given his history playing badasses. He’s not just the Man of Steel (which even if you didn’t know he played Superman, you would KNOW from just looking at him), but he also recently starred in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which, frankly, is the most criminally underrated movie in all of history.
The director posted a picture of himself on Instagram with the caption, “Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.”

And Henry Cavill replied from his Instagram, “How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair…..”
First of all, true. That is a great head of hair. Second of all, whaaaa? We have to imagine that the offer was made an accepted via official channels before McQuarrie took it to Instagram, but wouldn’t it be fun to live in a world where such a giant deal was made via social media comments? We think it would be.
Henry Cavill also made a more long form announcement by reposting McQuarrie’s picture to his own account…and photoshopped himself into the background.
The captions reads:
"I like a good challenge. Like hanging from a moving plane...or balancing from a cliff by my fingertips...or scaling a skyscraper. I guess I’ll just have to get my practice in and join the fun for the next Mission Impossible. Thanks for the invite, @ChristopherMcQuarrie."
Suffice to say we’re looking forward to the movie that comes out of all this weirdness. Mission Impossible 6 is due out July 27, 2018.
