Good news: A Hellboy reboot is in the works with one of the stars of “Stranger Things”
Get ready to be creeped out because there’s a new Hellboy reboot on the way! And you might recognize one of your favorite Stranger Things actors playing the titular role. At least he has experience with the creepy. Yes, David Harbour could be the new Hellboy, and excuse us while we freak out for a while.
Horror director Neil Marshall (The Descent and Game of Thrones) is signed on to direct — but bummer news, Guillermo del Toro is not involved in the project. In case you didn’t know, he helmed the original franchise and is basically the coolest dude. Anyway, David Harbour (who plays Chief Hopper in Stranger Things) is in talks to play Hellboy, a role originated on screen by Ron Perlman.
The film franchise of Hellboy is based on a comic book by the same name, and luckily, its original creator, Mike Mignola, worked on the script, so that at least is awesome news to hear. The reboot is currently titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen (which sounds epic), but that could change, since we’re still in the early stages. And rumor is that it’s going to be R-rated! With news of a reboot, it’s not shocking that the internet has mixed feelings about the whole idea.
While some people are excited and pro-reboot… false
Truly sorry about Hellboy, @realgdt, and yet still optimistic about the new version. Cannot wait for The Shape of Water, sir. And PR2!

…others are skeptical or can’t imagine the character without del Toro and Perlman.
Why would anyone want a Hellboy 3 without Ron Perlman? Or del Toro? Who thought that idea sounded good?

I'm against it. @RealGDT and @perlmutations are the magical heart of Hellboy. https://t.co/gUAfAhFtRQ

There’s no word on when Hellboy could be back on the big screen, but we’re guessing it will be a while. So why not go back and watch or read the source material? Never hurts to be ultra-prepared.
