The new “Heathers” reboot will officially be a series
“The extreme always seems to make an impression,” and we’re extreme — in our excitement. That’s because TV Land has ordered the Heathers reboot to series. When news first broke about the Heathers TV reboot, we freaked out. The original sends our dark little hearts aflutter, though not as much as learning about the cast of the Heathers reboot. And now, with this news, we know we’re officially getting a season of twisted, mean girl goodness.
The original filmstars Winona Ryder, Shannen Doherty, and Christian Slater. It’s the epitome of a high school black comedy, with witty lines and a pretty startling body count. Now, the TV Land reboot is definitely happening, and we’re SO thrilled at the news.

The Heathers series will be TV Land’s first hourlong series. It stars Grace Victoria Cox as a modern-day Veronica Sawyer. Melanie Field plays Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell plays Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews plays Heather McNamara — with James Scully as JD.
Playing out over ten episodes, each season (if there are more) will stand alone; it’s anthology show. So like American Horror Story, every season follows new characters.A new, vicious set of Heathers each time around? Yes, please.
President of development and production for TV Land Keith Cox told Entertainment Weekly:
"Our take on Heathers is a cinematic, surprising, and twisted comedy that gives a wonderful nod to the film while also creating something entirely its own."
We heart the original, and we find twisted comedy delightful. So, we think this reboot sounds like all kinds of fun. Plus, we love the fact that the characters are more diverse. Also, Shannen Doherty is returning for the remake, and YAS.
Cox continued:
"We’re really passionate about this show and the satirical story-telling its provocative characters allow."
We’re passionate about it, too; we can’t wait to see what TV Land does with the the show. The Heathers reboot premieres this fall, so get those croquet mallets ready!
