Heather Morris’ Tribute to Naya Rivera Shows Photos of Their Sons Together

"I’m showing the world a photo of our little goof balls for you, because I know that meant more than anything and they remind me of you and I."

Since starring together as love interests, Brittany and Santana, in Glee, Heather Morris and Naya Rivera fostered a beautiful 10-year friendship. Now, after Rivera’s tragic drowning, Morris has shared photos of their children playing together, remembering Rivera for the wonderful friend, mother, and teacher she was.

“We started out as the closest friends and then like all new things, we went through a bit of a rocky phase,” Morris began her July 15th Instagram caption. “However, we stuck by each other’s side and created the most beautiful friendship built out of love and understanding.”

Morris said she decided to post photos of Rivera’s son, Josey, with her sons, Owen and Elijah, because she and Rivera “mutually hated taking pictures…our relationship meant more than proof.” Rather, she wrote, “I have countless pictures of our babies playing because we shared that kind of pride and joy.”

Morris continued, “So I’m showing the world a photo of our little goof balls for you, because I know that meant more than anything and they remind me of you and I.

“I speak to you everyday because I know you’re still with me and even though I’m feeling greedy that we don’t get more time together, I cherish every moment we had and hold it close to my heart,” she wrote.

She noted that Rivera taught her so much about “grief, about beauty and poise, about being strong, resilient and about not giving a fuck (but still somehow respectful ).”

“You are and always will be the strongest and most resilient human being I know, and I vowed to carry that with me as I continue to live my life,” Morris wrote.

But most importantly, the actor said she learned from Rivera about “being a consistent and loving friend.” Like so many others, including the Glee creators, she called out the late actor’s loyalty to her friends.

“You were the first to check in, the first to ask questions, the first to listen..you cherished our friendship and I never took that for granted,” Morris wrote about Rivera.

Before posting this Instagram, Morris had taken time to “honor [her] grief,” and gather her thoughts before issuing a final goodbye to Rivera.

We hope she continues to honor her grief and take all the time she needs to process this awful accident.
