Comedian Heather McDonald just got very real about her time on ‘Chelsea Lately’
The Internet is abuzz with some seriously surprising gossip — that comedian Heather McDonald isn’t as buddy-buddy as you’d think with late-night star Chelsea Handler.
McDonald, who was a regular on the roundtable of Handler’s E! Show Chelsea Lately, claimed that she — as well as most of the crew — were pretty afraid of Handler and the way she ran the ship.
“I lived in fear, 100 percent lived in fear. I enjoyed my time there, I was happy, but something could happen and my heart would be beating and I’d be like ‘is this it?” she said on Matt Weiss and Theo Von’s Allegedly podcast.
The show’s ending in August of 2014 came as a shock to not only McDonald, but much of the cast, most of whom were blindsided by the announcement. On the way to a Lakers game, McDonald was given the news over the phone. “Her manager was on a red carpet and said Chelsea, the show, was ending this year,” she said on the podcast.
In July of last year, Handler announced that she was leaving E! to film Chelsea Does for Netflix. “I think she’s a good person, [but] I don’t agree with how she treats relationships in her life,” McDonald said. “I think she’s missing out by dumping people. When you’re in her life and you’re her friend, it’s the greatest thing. She makes you feel so special until you’re not.”
Ouch! You can hear the entire juicy podcast when it airs on Tuesday, but in the meantime, the clip exclusively provided to TMZ is available here.
