Twitter’s perfect response to the #WhatWomenLove hashtag

Last Sunday, Indian mobile phone company Karbonn launched a #WhatWomenLove competition on Twitter, asking men to respond with some of their best relationship advice and tips for impressing the ladies. But in a glorious turn of events, the company ended up getting a bit more than they bargained for.

While some Twitter users responded with your stereotypical fare — flowers, chocolates, candlelit dinners — the hashtag was soon dominated by answers of a very different kind. Many users were quick to point out that, rather than ask men what women love, the company would likely get more accurate answers if they instead asked women. And Twitter totally delivered.

Men and women alike took over the hashtag with flawless responses in support of gender equality, rightly pointing out that there’s no way to generalize all women in 140 characters of text. The hashtag soon ran the gamut from cat lady jokes to spot-on critiques of sexism, and all of it was glorious.

Karbonn announced the winners of its competition yesterday, and steered clear of any responses that poked fun — but I think we all know who the real winners are here. Check out a few of our favorite responses below, and #WhatWomenLove on Twitter for more.
