Harry Styles turned a Kanye West song into indie rock and we are SHOOK

So this is why they call it music magic! Harry Styles turned a Kanye West song into an indie tune and wow, just wow.

On Saturday, the British singer again shocked fans — in a good way — by performing a unique cover. The former One Direction singer sang West’s “Ultralight Beam” and it was SO different.

While in London, Styles did a secret concert (for 600 lucky fans) and in addition to playing his album Harry Styles, he covered West’s hit tune.

Even though we are still upset by the fact that we were not on the guest list for this secret show, this song makes up for it…a little bit.

We are very grateful that this Twitter video exits, because we are now obsessed with “Ultralight Beam.”

Okay, we liked West’s version, but this one is also weird and perfect.

Styles’ rendition totally switched up the melody, lyrics and the beat. Instead of going for the electric sound, the 23-year-old singer channeled his inner ’90s rocker. Technically it could be a rocker of any era, but it’s giving off major ’90s indie rock vibes.

The cover makes us feel like we’re either at an underground concert in London (appropriate, right?), or at a coffee house. Styles’ version is so personal and intimate, which is what we’ve come to expect from the artist now that he’s gone solo.

Listen to the “Famous” singer’s original track here. Then check out the clip from the former 1D singer’s pop-up concert above.

Sound off in the comments on which version you like best.

We like them both obviously, but this week we can’t get enough of the British hunk, so we choose Styles. Harry Styles forever!
