Everything we know is a lie, because there are actually *two* Harry Potters

When it comes to bravery, dark magic slaying, and Golden Snitch catching, there can only be one Harry Potter.

At least that’s what we thought until J.K. Rowling blew our minds by announcing on Pottermore that there are actually TWO Harry Potters.

It’s a lot to take in, we know. So let us break it down for you.

If you scroll up the Potter family tree, it turns out that the first Harry Potter was Harry’s great-grandfather. His real name was actually Henry Potter, but he went by Harry.

The OG Harry Potter was a hero in his own right, publicly condemning then Minister for Magic Archer Evermonde for not allowing wizards and witches to help Muggles during World War I. As a result of standing up for the non-magic folk, the Potter clan was forbidden from being included in the Sacred Twenty-Eight, a list made in the 1930s or 1940s that included families considered “pure-blood.”

Another fun fact: Harry’s son was named Fleamont Potter, aka the inventor of Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion (you know, that magical liquid Hermione used on her curls before the Yule Ball). Fleamont is the father to James, who is the father to Harry, and you know what happens from there…
