We’ve got some bigtime ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off casting news
You probably thought we were done with big news from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Well, guess again. We just learned some more amazing news from the set of the Harry Potter prequel, with another major name joining the cast. Yer gonna be a wizard, Colin Farrell.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the current True Detective star has signed on to join Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander on his fantastic journey through New York City. Farrell will play a character by the name of Graves, and yes, Graves is going to be a wizard. So now the questions can begin, like, is Graves an American wizard? If so, did he attend the American Hogwarts and can we have more details about that? How does Newt come across him, and is he tagging along for Newt’s entire journey, or just part of it? What’s Graves doing in NYC anyway? So many questions right now, and not nearly enough answers.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will be set 70 years BH (Before Harry) When Newt finds himself in New York City. Harry Potter scribe, J.K. Rowling, has called the movie an, “extension of the Wizarding World,” which means we’re going to get a ton of stuff we’ve never seen before. Even just simply, wizards in America.
Farrell joins the cast that not only includes Redmayne, but Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller and Alison Sudol, too. It’s currently in production and will magically appear on our movie screens on November 18th 2016.
