This very unexpected ‘Harry Potter’ soundtrack just dropped

Since there won’t be any Harry Potter sequels coming out any time soon, we all thought it was safe to assume that we wouldn’t be getting any new soundtracks either. Think again! Because a group of classical Indian musicians called The Indian Jam Project have recreated the John Williams tunes like you’ve never heard them before.

While the group has maintained the traditional keyboards and violins of the original soundtrack, they also added the sarangi, santoor, and the Indian flute. Those influences are what make these renditions sound so awesome. It’s the HP melodies we know and love, with an Indian twist. And these guys are true fans. The description of the video reads:

They cover what we consider to be some of the most important music from the series. Starting with “A Window To The Past” from Harry Potter and the Prisoners of Azkaban, then “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, then the creepy “Face of Voldemort” from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, finishing with the real tear-jerker, “Leaving Hogwarts.”

The members of the group themselves are all musicians in their early twenties, but this isn’t the first time they’ve covered a popular soundtrack. This rendition of Harry Potter follows other iconic soundtracks they’ve done like Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar, Game of Thrones, and the BBC’s Sherlock.

What’s next for The Indian Jam Project? I don’t think any of us would say no to a Bollywood version of the Frozen soundtrack — or maybe a just a gigantic Disney compilation. No matter what they choose next, they’ll have to work pretty hard to top this. Take a listen below!
