There is no better way to propose than with a ‘Harry Potter’ cake

Even if you aren’t a Harry Potter fan (first of all how dare you) you will fall a little bit in love with this proposal story.

If you are like me, you maybe cry at proposal stories a few times a week —and I do this not because I’m dying to get married or anything, but because proposal stories are the BEST. This story in particular was speaking right to me because I love books and games and cute couples and mostly Harry Potter. Here’s what happened.

Alex Patterson recently proposed to his boyfriend of two years by surprising him at his birthday party. The only thing better than getting engaged to the love of your life at your own birthday party is being presented with a cake like the one Patterson gave to Benjamin Mize. To commemorate the history of their relationship, Patterson called on Creative Cakes by Catherine to design the sweetest (get it?) proposal ever.

As Patterson told BuzzFeed,

See the cuteness and ingenuity right here:

The tasteful (HA, sorry, had to) cake has references to The Office, The Iliad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the game Pandemic, but what really stands out is the Harry Potter portion. Most of us Potter fans have a favorite book and Mize’s happens to be Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is the book featured on the beautiful cake. Beyond that, Patterson appreciates the fact that there is a chapter called “The Unbreakable Vow.” DUH.

The epic engagement photos have already gained 11,000 likes on Imgur since it was uploaded two days ago and it’s clear to see why the Internet’s collective heart has melted. I mean, how can you go wrong with Harry Potter + cake + true love?

Bottom line? Great job, you two. 10 points to Gryffindor.
