Fans are making a chilling “Harry Potter” prequel all about Tom Riddle

Impatiently tapping your toes until the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them comes out next year? Well, there’s another Harry Potter prequel coming your way — and it looks AMAZING.
This one, though, is not coming to us from Warner Bros. Rather, a bunch of dedicated Harry Potter fans who just want to explore Voldemort’s origin story. A trailer for their fan-made film, Voldemort: Origins of the Heir, dropped over the weekend, and, according to TRYANGLE Films, the production company behind it, it’s here to answer literally all of your burning Tom Riddle questions.
Like…
"What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back? There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: the rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise."
The trailer picks up right after Tom graduates from Hogwarts (complete with a shot of the castle in the very beginning…be still our Potter-loving hearts). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a1zs9YAvkk
We follow him as he quits his job at Borgin and Burkes, and sets out to get his hands on the first Horocrux. From there, prepare for a blockbuster-worthy recreation of Tom’s descent into darkness, as he kills Hepzibah Smith for the Hufflepuff cup, pins the murder on her house elf, and sets out to become Lord Voldemort. Oh, and on top of all that, there’s a brand new character added into the mix.
Grisha McLaggen (who we suspect is distantly related to Cormac McLaggen) is this film’s hero, setting out to put a stop to Tom’s evil ways.
The whole trailer is completely chilling and epically shot. According to the production company’s Facebook page, the film won’t be released on YouTube until 2017, but there are so, so many drool-worthy production shots being released to tide you over until then.

Excuse us while we go binge-watch ever single Harry Potter movie and ponder Tom Riddle’s fan-made fate.
