A new ‘Harry Potter’ mecca is opening in April
No-majs, gather round. First off, we need to hammer out what is actually the plural version of “no-maj” and second, this is important because all of us non-magic folk have a new destination to check out. In April, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens up at Universal Studios, Hollywood.
Have you been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter over in Orlando, Florida? Yes, that place is amazing. And now, no matter what coast you’re on, there’ll be a Hogwarts near you. The plans for this park were first announced last year, and since then we’ve been freaking out like we just won the House Cup. Now, the park has an actual opening date, and though it’s next year, it’s only FOUR MONTHS AWAY. This new Wizarding World is set to open on April 7, 2016.
Just like its counterpart in Florida, the Wizarding World will be full of the most wonderful, magical things — and yes, that includes overflowing cups of sweet, delicious Butterbeer. The area will be set up like Hogsmeade, so expect restaurants, shops, and a place to check out the newest Firebolt 2020 (I feel like they’re up to that model by now). If rides are more your thing, the park will include Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in 3D. From the sound of it, it’ll be the same as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in Orlando, but now, three-dimensional.
Universal Studios Hollywood made the official announcement for the opening earlier today, and enlisted the help of one Luna Lovegood (HP superfan herself, Evanna Lynch) to light up Hogwarts. I’m not going to say the announcement video gave me chills, but I’m also not going to say that it didn’t give me chills. Check out the video below, and start saving your Galleons and vacation time to check it out. April 7th can’t get here soon enough.
