A “Harry Potter” exhibit is *finally* coming stateside, and hopefully tickets aren’t hundreds of Galleons
If you’re American and you’ve spent your life being jealous of all the Harry Potter-ness going on in Britain, now’s your chance to have some of your own. A “Harry Potter: History of Magic” exhibit is coming to the New York Historical Society from October 5th, 2018 through January 27th, 2019.
It might not be your long lost Hogwarts Letter, but it’s definitely going to be more than enough Harry Potter to, y’know, making you burst into tears at the overwhelming feeling of returning to the world that SHAPED YOUR CHILDHOOD. (If you’re not a Harry Potter fan, sorry for being dramatic; if you are a Harry Potter fan, you know we’re absolutely not being dramatic at all.)
This exhibit will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (omg we’re so old).
It’s intended to take viewers through the history of the series and, as such, will include things like early drafts and sketches from J.K. Rowling herself, and the original illustrator, Jim Kay.

It will also include the real-life history of folklore and magic that inspired various aspects of the magical world of Harry Potter.
Andddd, the exhibit even has its own companion book. So even if you can’t make it to New York for the exhibit, you can still have a piece of it. Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic will be published on October 20th.
We don’t know how much tickets will be yet, so all we can do is hope that they’ll be within our budget. Because regardless of the expense, we can’t even lie — we’re going to be tempted to spend all our Galleons no matter what.
Tickets will go on sale for New York Historical members starting February 14th, and for the general public in April. Hope to see you all there.
