Grab your dress robes: HBO is hosting “Harry Potter” parties to celebrate streaming all eight movies commercial-free
Unless you live in Atlanta, Boston, or Denver, you might want to get your hands on a Nimbus 2001 (or a Firebolt, if you’re fancy) and get flying. In honor of all eight Harry Potter movies joining the HBO line-up earlier this month, the network is inviting witchcraft and wizardry superfans to party and show off their vast knowledge of the Potterverse in each of those three cities in the coming weeks, and honestly, we can’t get our house swag on fast enough.
The sorcery-centric soirees will be a welcome treat, since we’re still recovering from the November news that those Freeform Harry Potter marathon weekends would be disintegrating like Voldemort in the second Deathly Hallows. The movies luckily landed on HBO on New Year’s Day (new year, new You-Know-Who) and we’ve been binging commercial-free ever since.
Those fortunate enough to score a spot on the exclusive Harry Potter party guest lists will have a chance to compete in trivia challenges and other games, win prizes for things like Best Costume, and get up close and personal with actual props from the movies — including Bellatrix’s dagger, Slughorn’s hourglass, and Tom Riddle’s diary *with* the Basilisk fang (!).
HBO will have a limited number of tickets available on its Facebook page “in the coming days,” though we’re guessing getting some will be tough, no matter how good your Summoning charm skills may be.
The first “Hogwarts House Challenges” party is set to be held in Atlanta on January 18th, then the event and exhibit will apparate to Boston on January 25th, and it’ll wrap things up in Denver on January 31st.

Even if you can’t make it to the parties, knowing you can skip the whole running through the Platform 9 3/4 wall part and return to Hogwarts from the comfort of your couch whenever you want is reason enough to feel festive.
