Harry Potter Go will come out in 2018, and this year is already the best yet

The wizards behind app craze Pokémon Go have announced that Harry Potter Go will officially launch in late 2018. Is this already the best year yet? Definitely.

The game’s real name is Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, which is so perfect.

The team at Niantic assured fans that it will have a much less bumpy landing than its predecessor, Pokémon Go. Anyone who played the Pokémon VR game in its first week can attest to the app crashing, not loading, and otherwise misbehaving, so this is really great to hear.

CEO John Hanke even revealed details of the Harry Potter Go gameplay to ft.com, and try not to swoon! He reiterated that the Harry Potter franchise synced up nicely with augmented reality technology, which uses real-world locations and a phone’s camera to simulate gameplay in the real world.

"The ‘muggle’ world and the wizarding world are only separated by this thin veil, Hanke said. “It’s very easy for us to imagine bringing that kind of magic into our everyday lives."

Magic into our everyday lives? This is what we’ve been waiting for!

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will reportedly arrive in “the second half of 2018,” which *technically* could mean as early as June

And the developers apparently want to make sure the game hits the app store as seamlessly as possible. Not to mention, something as highly-anticipated as Harry Potter Go is going to bring all eyes to Niantic, and if the prices are anything as sinisterly low as Pokémon Go‘s gold coins, it could bring quite a few Galleons into their pockets before 2018 is over.

Is there a version of Gotta Catch ‘Em All for Harry Potter Go yet? Guess we still have time to work on that!
