There’s a chance the original “Harry Potter” cast could reunite for the “Cursed Child” trilogy, but we’ll have to wait
ICYMI, we can never get enough of the Harry Potter books and movies. Yes, we had — and loved — J. K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016, but we still have an affinity for all things Harry Potter. We just found out that there’s a chance the original Harry Potter cast could reunite for the Cursed Child trilogy, according to MovieWeb, but we’ll have to wait. And by “wait,” we mean a while.
As you probably know, Rowling premiered the stage play version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child last year in London, and it’s still running. It’s so popular — even among fans who haven’t hopped on a plane to see it — that the transcript has become a bestseller, too. No surprise there.
The plot of Cursed Child?
Harry Potter is a father of three, as well as an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, according to E! News. His past haunts him, and his youngest son, Albus, is challenged by his family’s legacy. Yup, we’re in!
Some rumors have been saying that Warner Bros. will be making the play into a film trilogy. Recently, even journalist and historian Jim Hill mentioned that it’s a possibility when he was on the Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast, reported MovieWeb.
However, Rowling shut that rumor down on Twitter.
I know a lot of people are looking for reasons to be cheerful today, but there is NO TRUTH to the rumour about a #CursedChild movie trilogy!

Awww, our hearts are broken.
However, Hill still has faith.
“I have heard that Warner Bros has actually had conversations with [Emma], with Rupert, and, of course, Daniel about Cursed Child, because they want this to be, for lack of a better term, Harry Potter: The Force Awakens. They want this trilogy of movies to have the actors that we know and love from the original films, that we watched grow up, as adults. And, of course, they’re hiring a bunch of new, younger actors to play their children with the hope that, if we can lean on J.K. [Rowling], maybe there’ll be The Cursed Adolescent.
Hill went on to say this movie version of Cursed Child would not happen until 2026 (!!), aka two years after the fifth and last movie in the Fantastic Beasts series. That is a lonnnnnng time. Then again, Harry Potter fans seem to be some of the most patient ones out there.
Until then, we’ll have to wait for Cursed Child to appear on Broadway, which is happening in 2018. Meanwhile, we’ll just keep binge-watching all the Harry Potter movies. Who’s with us?
