This is the creepiest Harry Potter ‘book’ you will ever see
We Harry Potter fans have long sat at home and secretly pined away for our own Hogwarts letter to arrive by owl post — spiriting us away into an exciting and strange wizarding world. Those of us who pride ourselves on being avid readers probably looked over the titles of strange books and wished they were real – well, maybe all but one. The Monster Book of Monsters, originally assigned to Harry in his third year at Hogwarts for Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class, was known for its scary reputation of attacking anyone who tried to open it — until you stroked a finger along the spine to calm it down, that is.
The book might be a little scary, but now it’s actually being made available for Harry Potter fans and aficionados to take home for their own library. Courtesy of Sideshow Collectibles, you can get your very own replica of the Monster Book of Monsters used in the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Right now, it’s available for pre-order for the price of $295.
The resemblance isn’t just skin-deep, either; the book also includes a limited edition of Harry Potter: The Creature Vault, which takes you behind the scenes via concept illustrations, photography and other filmmaking stories. There’s also a removable poster and an interactive Eyelops Owl Emporium catalog, as well as a new poster that displays concept illustrations of the dragon breeds from the movies.
No matter if you’re a fan of the books or the movies — this is pretty darn cool. We’re already cross-checking against our required reading list at Hogwarts and wondering if it would be possible to also put in a request for Hogwarts: A History — if only to guarantee that someone else has read it besides Hermione.
The Monster Book of Monsters film replica will start shipping out this summer. It might be terrifying to look at, but we’re pretty sure this version won’t try to attack you — at least not like it did to poor Neville Longbottom.
