Whoops, did Harrison Ford just reveal a spoiler from the new ‘Star Wars’?
Want to know what’s really amazing? Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in THIRTEEN DAYS and 90% of the movie remains a total secret. Sure, we know that the Millennium Falcon makes an appearance, and there are lightsabers, and an adorable droid by the name of BB-8, but as for the plot? That’s a total mystery. Considering how many movies are spoiled way before their release nowadays, the fact that Force Awakens has completely broken this norm is what Darth Vader would call, “most impressive.”
Well, it was most impressive. That is, until Harrison Ford maaaaaaaybe spoiled a little something. This is not a confirmed spoiler, and the Star Wars base hasn’t addressed it in the least bit. So maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. If you want to remain 100% spoiler free, turn away now, just to be on the safe side.
Friday night, Twitter was completely taken over by the whole cast of Force Awakens, with everyone from Ford to Oscar Isacc and Gwendoline Christie responding to fan questions for well over three hours. Each actor took a turn at answering a handful of tweets, piloting Twitter solo when it was their turn. At one point, Ford was asked about his favorite action sequence in Force Awakens and he responded with a surprising answer.
This is the possible spoiler, friends. Last warning.
According to Ford, his favorite action sequence — not necessarily one he is in himself — is “The sword fight with Rey and Kilo Ren.”
We’ll let the fact that Ford spelled “Kylo Ren” wrong slide, because the big thing here is that he’s hinting at the fact that new character Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) might become a Jedi. Honestly, that thought has probably crossed your mind already (I can’t be the ONLY one who’s thought that). But, there’s never been any indication of that in the released trailers, or promotional material, anything.
For all we know, there could actually be a real metal cutlass sword fight in Force Awakens. There could also be a unicorn and a tap dance number, because once again, we really know nothing about Force Awakens. Or Ford could be substituting the word sword for lightsaber and come December 18th, we’re all in for a big surprise. Er, but it’s not so much of a surprise anymore.
In the scheme of things, this is a tiny spoiler. It’s not like he told us that they blow up the Death Star in the third act or anything. But still, from now on we’ll be watching whatever Ford says with great interest.
