Harrison Ford has some surprising advice for the actors vying for that young Han Solo role

A Han Solo anthology film is in the works, and casting is underway. It was inevitable—even though Harrison Ford will always be our Han Solo, it’s time to tell his origin story, and that requires a younger actor. We don’t yet know who the lucky actor will be, but Hollywood has a lot of options. Ford has some advice for him, and he stopped by Ellen to share it.
Ellen interviewed Chewbacca first, who politely replied to her questions with a few howls. The host realized her dilemma and asked if anyone could translate, and voila—Ford appeared. They talked about how much Star Wars: The Force Awakens has made ($2 billion!), chatted about the new Indiana Jones movie, and yes, discussed the casting of the new Han Solo.
“Not a new Han Solo,” Ford joked, referencing his old age. “It’s worse than that. It’s a young Han Solo.”
Ellen asked Ford if he had any advice for the hopeful actors. His advice? Don’t bother. (He’s joking, of course.)
“Don’t do it. First, it seems like everything is going swimmingly. And you put in 25, 30 years, and then they just let you go,” he said. “They show you the door. We’re done with you. Thanks very much.”
