The Harley Quinn spin-off movie has a name and a director, because this is HAPPENING

Remember that dream you had that one time, about a Harley Quinn centric spin-off movie, starring Margot Robbie? Well, it’s no longer just a dream anymore. The Harley Quinn movie is a GO, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Warner Bros. has just announced that they’ve found a director for the Harley Quinn movie, and okay, we have to stop calling it the Harley Quinn movie. It’s actually going to focus on a few different female villains from the DC Comic Universe, and is currently being called Gotham City Sirens, and we are all. about. this.

Anyhoo. That director. You’re probably familiar with him if you happened to catch this summer’s Suicide Squad, the movie that first introduced Margot’s Harley Quinn to the world. David Ayer has been tapped to helm the project, and he’ll produce it, too. Even better, Margot is set to produce the movie as well, and already this sounds like a perfect dream-team.

Bonus: Female screenwriter, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, is set to pen the script.

Okay, wait, there’s actually even more good news. Gotham City Sirens will not just feature Harley Quinn, but a whole slew of female baddies. Supposedly, the movie will be loosely based on a comic series of the same name, and will feature Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. These last two are well-known Batman baddies, so might the Batman himself show up (again)?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first broke the news, “Warner Bros. doesn’t have a release date for Sirens, but the project is now on the fast track.” That’s what we like to hear. There’s already a Suicide Squad 2 in the works, but it kinda sounds like Sirens will hit theaters before that, and to that we say YAAASSSS. It’s about time some strong, fierce, (bad) girls had their time in the limelight.
