Happy Make Up Your Mind Day!

December 31st is Make Up Your Mind Day!

Why Celebrate?

So, I have this problem. Or maybe I don’t. See? I did it again.

I am very indecisive. From choosing what to wear each morning, to deciding what to eat for lunch. And don’t even get me started on big choices, like what college to attend, or where to visit on vacation. Those are tough. But even the most mundane decisions cause me anxiety as I go back and forth between options. You might not think that it is a big deal (and let’s be real, it probably isn’t…)but even choosing which color of nail polish to use takes me a ridiculously long time. Because you see… if I choose Cha-Ching Cherry red, I may wish that I had chosen Elephantastic pink tomorrow. Because really, who knows what I will wear tomorrow? I sure don’t. It might match Russian Navy blue way better. (Thank you, OPI, for the best nail polish color names ever.) There is an endless ping-pong match in my head between options that honestly have very little consequence, and it is a tiring waste of time.

In light of today being New Year’s Eve, there is no better day to celebrate making up your mind. Tomorrow is a new year! Resolutions are being made, and sadly, very few of them will be kept. It is hard sometimes because we set up unreasonable goals, but mostly it is hard because we don’t really make up our minds to follow through.

How to Celebrate

Be decisive. All day. For me, I know this will take a conscious effort, and I will probably struggle. No. No, I won’t struggle. I will be decisive. THERE. I needed to start off on the right foot. That being said, each time a decision-making opportunity surfaces, remind yourself to choose boldly. Go for it! Don’t think about those silly “what if”s. (Please note that I am not encouraging poor choices or rash behavior.) While you’re at it, when you make your New Year’s Resolution (if you’re into that sort of thing), really commit. Make up your mind to stick with it.

Quote of the Day
