Happy Be Humble Day!
February 22nd is Be Humble Day!
Why Celebrate?
What does it mean to be humble? I think that many people jump to the conclusion that humble is synonymous with shy or quiet. While these can be characteristics of humility, being humble is much more than that. Humility comes with not putting yourself on a pedestal. Being humble is all about looking to serve others first and thinking about yourself less. It is a concept that is pretty foreign in our society today, because so much of what we do includes a fair amount of bragging, showing off, and promoting ourself to the world.
It is a good practice to occasionally check your pride and stop thinking so much about yourself. Easier said than done, I know! But today is a perfect excuse to intentionally examine your actions, mannerisms, and even the way you speak to others. Being humble is not the same as being a doormat, so keep that in mind. On Be Humble Day, put some of these positive qualities into practice!
How to Celebrate
Three easy ways to practice humility:
- Accept your limitations.
- Recognize your own faults.
- Be grateful for what you have.
